SHOT Show 2024: 5 Best Rifles Being Released This Year
Our team at Vedder Holsters headed to SHOT Show 2024 Las Vegas to check out all the latest and greatest gear, accessories, and, best of all, firearms that will be introduced to the market in 2024. And we weren’t disappointed!
There was a great lineup of guns at this year’s exposition, with upgraded bolt and lever-action rifles being an especially common theme. And while we saw a lot of great rifles at SHOT Show, some stood out more than the rest. So, here are the top five rifle models that we’re most excited about this year.
1. Daniel Defense PCC
Daniel Defense brought a lot of exciting firearms to the show this year, and it should come as no surprise that the new Daniel Defense PCC would make our list. This 9mm pistol caliber carbine was specially designed for fast, effortless performance and efficient shooting. It looks great too, with a cold hammer-forged 16-inch barrel and a unique patterned grip texture.
The PCC is designed with a fully ambidextrous charging handle, selector, and bolt catch, making it more user-friendly for left-handed shooters than most. It also features a proprietary push-button mag release and is compatible with standard AR-style accessories, making it super easy to use and customize.
2. Smith & Wesson Model 1854
History buffs unite! This year, Smith & Wesson is introducing the new 1854 series as a tribute to the year it patented its first lever-action gun, the Volcanic. To honor that milestone, the company is reinventing its tough, old-school design by combining it with the S&W large-frame revolver’s smooth, crisp action.
The .44 Magnum Model 1854 features M-LOK slots allowing you to mount grips, lights, or lasers with a flush-fit against the rifle and a removable 9-round mag tube system for safe and easy unloading. It also brings a unique look to the table, with an old-school body, a clean, silver barrel, and a black polymer stock with a tactical Picatinny rail. It will also be available with a classic, walnut stock for those who want a more vintage look.
3. Taurus Expedition
Taurus is venturing into the world of bolt-action rifles for the first time this year with the introduction of the new Taurus Expedition, specifically “designed by hunters, built for hunters”. This .308 rifle is based on the Remington 700 action and has a 5-round capacity and an 18-inch threaded, cold hammer-forged barrel.
The Expedition features a drilled and tapped 6-48 sight, a stainless steel frame, accessory rail, optic mount, scope mount, and a stunning DLC finish. And perhaps one of the best parts about this rifle is that it’s compatible with most commonly available AICS pattern magazines, making everything super easy.
4. Aero Precision Lever Gun
Also jumping on the lever-action rifle train this year is Aero Precision. The AR-15 dealer introduced a prototype for its new Tactical Lever Gun at SHOT Show 2024, and it looks pretty awesome.
This modern lever action will initially be available in .30-30 Win. and .45-70, and will include a 16-inch threaded barrel, skeletonized stock, a Picatinny rail, M-LOK attachment slots, and an adjustable cheek piece that can be customized by height and length of pull.
Although this model (which is still awaiting an official name) won’t be released until later in the year, it’s expected to be available in a few different finishes like OD green and FDE. Keep an eye on this one, folks!
5. Agency Arms x Ronin Tactics Rifle
Who doesn’t love a good collab piece? This year, Agency Arms is releasing a signature rifle developed in collaboration with trainer and influencer Tu Lam of Ronin Tactics. This highly-anticipated release has been two years in the making, and it shows.
The AR-15-style rifle is made with 7075-T6 aluminum, a chrome-lined barrel, ambidextrous controls, a dual ejector, a hard anodized finish, and a cloud defensive M-LOK. Chambered in .223 Wylde, the rifle features a HuxWrx muzzle break, which is said to reduce recoil by up to 76%.
It also features a unique gas block system with 12 adjustable riflespeed positions, making the process a lot easier. This new Agency Arms Ronin signature rifle is sure to be a hit, and more information about it is set to come out later this year.
Summary
It’s hard to pick a favorite out of all the amazing rifles at SHOT Show 2024, but the above selections definitely stood out! If you like any of the above models, keep an eye on the manufacturer’s website, or wait for them to hit the shelves of your local gun store later this year.
