The Bodyguard 2.0: Smith & Wesson's Next-Gen .380 Auto for Everyday Carry
Smith & Wesson’s Bodyguard 380 has been a reliable choice in the world of micro-compact concealed carry pistols since it was first released in 2010. And now, a new and improved generation of this iconic firearm has hit the market – the Bodyguard 2.0.

Features
Size and Capacity
Balancing its small size with high functionality, the Bodyguard 2.0 is specifically designed for effective concealed carry. Weighing a mere 9.8 ounces unloaded and measuring 4 inches tall, 5.5 inches long, and 0.88 inches wide with a barrel length of 2.75 inches, this 380 pistol comes equipped with a 10-round flush magazine and a 12-round extended mag depending on your preference.
Frame, Slide and Barrel
The micro-compact polymer frame of the Bodyguard 2.0 is razor-thin, making deep concealment easy without sacrificing performance. It’s built with a 2.75-inch stainless steel barrel with an Armornite® finish and a 1:10-inch twist.
The pistol also has a stainless steel, Armornite®-finished slide featuring aggressive front and rear serrations designed to provide more traction for shooters, making it easier to rack in the heat of the moment.
Grip
The ergonomic grip design on the 2.0 is by far one of its best upgrades. While it comes with a fairly standard black polymer grip complete with stippling for added control and reduced recoil, that’s not all there is to it. The updated Bodyguard grip fits comfortably in the hand, its longer more ergonomic shape allowing even those with larger hands to get a secure grip. Not only does the grip feel great to hold, but it sits at an18-degree angle, allowing for a more natural, and therefore more effective, point of aim.
Sights
The S&W Bodyguard 2.0 comes standard with a bright dot Tritium front sight and a rapid acquisition, black U-notch rear sight for fast alignment and accurate shots. This model does not come optics-ready.
Trigger
One of the most exciting features of the Bodyguard 2.0 is its improved trigger system. The striker-fired pistol comes with a flat-face trigger developed to improve accuracy by operating with a clean take-up, crisp break, and short reset. It provides consistent feedback to the shooter, making it easier to repeat shots, while its flat design requires proper finger placement which, in turn, results in more precise hits.
Safety
The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 is available either with or without a thumb safety, depending on your personal preference. It also comes with a highly functional trigger safety feature.
Final Thoughts
Smith & Wesson’s Bodyguard 2.0 is a complete redesign of the original Bodyguard 380, featuring modern enhancements, an improved flat-faced trigger, an updated slide, and a higher round capacity of 10 or 12. Chambered in .380 Auto, this ergonomic micro-compact handgun is an excellent choice for concealed carry or as a backup weapon.
