Idaho Concealed Carry Reciprocity Map

*Page Last Updated: December 11, 2023

Idaho is a shall-issue, permitless carry state that allows both residents and non-residents to conceal carry and obtain a CCW license.

In Idaho, constitutional carry became legal in 2016, allowing anyone over the age of 18 who is legally permitted to possess a firearm to conceal carry with or without a license.

In order to qualify for an Idaho concealed carry permit, you must be at least 18 years old, be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S., live in Idaho for at least 6 months, demonstrate competency with a firearm, and meet all federal requirements. There are also a number of factors that may disqualify you from obtaining a license.

Idaho offers resident, non-resident, and enhanced concealed carry permits, and honors CCW licenses from every other U.S. state. In addition to handguns, an Idaho carry license allows you to conceal any other deadly weapon.

An Idaho enhanced concealed carry permit is available for those who wish to travel out of state with their firearm, as some states only accept the enhanced version of Idaho’s concealed carry license. An enhanced Idaho CCL does require an additional state-approved 8-hour course with added training.

Open carry is also legal in Idaho for anyone over 18 and legally permitted to possess a handgun.
