LightTuck™ vs RapidTuck™

This article is going to compare the features of our LightTuck™ and RapidTuck™. Both of these are IWB holsters from our collection. You can view all of our holsters including these here on our website.

Everyone has a different opinion of various holster styles, what one person likes about a holster another person may hate. The most important thing when you are choosing a holster is that it is comfortable and meets your needs.

So, let’s dive into some of the features of these two popular holsters and help you decide which one (or two) is right for you.

Material

Starting off with one of the biggest differences between the RapidTuck™ and LightTuck™ the material they are made of. The LightTuck™ is an all Kydex IWB holster made of .080” Kydex. It is going to be lightweight and durable with a slim profile, making it a popular choice for many of our customers.

The RapidTuck™, on the other hand, is a hybrid holster composed of our durable Kydex and your choice of cowhide or premium horsehide leather. The leather helps to disperse the pressure points that the gun creates making this holster feel more comfortable against your body. The horsehide is a more dense and sweat resistant leather than the cowhide which can be beneficial in warmer climates.

So, when it comes to material if you are looking for something with a low profile that is lightweight our popular LightTuck™ might be best for you. If you value the feel of a leather backing, the RapidTuck™ could be more your style.

Adjustability

Adjustability is important in any holster. That's why we wrote a whole blog about the “Importance of Adjustability On A Holster”. While both of these holsters are adjustable there are a few differences in the way they adjust.

First up in the ring is our LightTuck™. It features three levels of ride height adjustment, adjustable retention, and 30° of adjustable forward and reverse cant. The advanced adjustability of this holster allows you to carry it where you want it and how you want it, helping you feel comfortable and confident all day.

Next in our ring we have the RapidTuck™, with adjustability similar to the LightTuck™. This holster also features the adjustable ride height and cant that our LightTuck™ customers love. The difference is the adjustable retention. Because of the current hybrid design of this holster, it does not have adjustable retention like the LightTuck™ does. With that in mind we still designed it to keep your holster secure throughout the day, and you can tighten and loosen your belt to get minute retention adjustments if you wish.

Overall, both of these holsters are adjustable in a few ways to create optimal comfort. The only difference is the LightTuck™ has complete adjustable retention whereas the RapidTuck™ does not. Don’t give up on the RapidTuck™ yet though, it has a lot of other benefits you may find make it perfect for you.

Clips

Your holster has to stay on your belt somehow, right? Clips to the rescue! Is there a difference between the clips of the RapidTuck™ and LightTuck™? No.

A traditional hybrid holster like our ComfortTuck™ has two clips on either side of the holster because of its wide footprint. Our RapidTuck™ is a blend of a traditional hybrid holster and our popular LightTuck™. That means you get the best of both worlds, the comfort of the leather with a hybrid holster but the smaller design of an all Kydex holster.

But what does that have to do with clips? I’m glad you asked, that means that because it has a smaller footprint it only needs one clip. Our LightTuck™ and RapidTuck™ use a Rock Solid Spring Steel Clip. It is available in two sizes to fit over standard and wider belts. These clips have a slimmer profile over standard plastic clips and are tuckable for deep concealment.

Whether you get the LightTuck™ or RapidTuck™ you don’t have to worry about choosing between two clip designs. They both use our Spring Steel Tuckable clips for the best concealment and comfort.

Other Features

There are a few other things about these two holsters we thought were worth mentioning. Both the LightTuck™ and RapidTuck™ can be cut for red dot optics and are available in many of the popular gun models.

Being made entirely of Kydex the LightTuck™ is available in over 75 color options and as a hybrid holster the RapidTuck™ has a selection of colors for the Kydex as well as an option of black or natural tan leather.

The LightTuck™ has two additional features that the RapidTuck™ does not. It is designed with a sweat shield to help protect your gun from the dirt and grime of everyday carry. The premium leather of the RapidTuck™ has a similar function. The LightTuck™ can also be used with a holster claw attachment. The claw helps to push the grip of the gun closer to your body for better concealment.
