RapidTuck™ vs. ComfortTuck™
So, you’ve either narrowed your holster search down to these two holsters or you are just curious what the difference between the RapidTuck™ and the ComfortTuck™ really is. Well, you’ve clicked the right link because this article is going to discuss the similarities and differences between these two popular holsters.
Let’s start with a little basic information about these holsters before we get into the nitty-gritty. Both of these holsters are hybrid inside the waistband (IWB) holsters, meaning they are a combination of leather and Kydex and you wear them inside your waistband. This is a common type of holster for concealed carry. We decided to ask our customers which holster was their favorite and why. Here are some of the responses.
“I find the ComfortTuck™ more stable with 2 clips and it’s more comfortable with the leather against me instead of Kydex.” - Keith N.
“Only one clip on it and it’s still comfortable.” - Howard B.
“Its name says it all, it is very comfortable.” - Garry L.
Everyone has a different opinion of various holster styles, what one person likes about a holster another person may hate. The most important thing when you are choosing a holster is that it is comfortable and meets your needs. So, let’s dive into the features of these two holsters.
Material
Most commonly holsters are made of Kydex, leather, or a combination of the two known as a hybrid. Both the RapidTuck™ and ComfortTuck™ are hybrid holsters so they are a combination of our durable Kydex and comfortable leather.
The Kydex is molded to fit your gun model and helps keep it secure while protecting the trigger. When it comes to leather you have a choice between cowhide or premium horsehide. The horsehide is a more dense and sweat resistant leather than the cowhide which can be beneficial in warmer climates.
Using leather helps to disperse the pressure points that the gun creates making these holsters feel extra comfortable against your body. If you find that traditional Kydex holsters irritate your skin or just don’t work for you, a hybrid holster might be an alternative that is comfortable and functional for you.
Adjustability
Adjustability can be an important part of your holster decision. That's why we wrote a whole blog about the “Importance of Adjustability On A Holster”. Our RapidTuck™ is a combination of our more traditional hybrid holster the ComfortTuck™ and our LightTuck™. But what does that mean? It simply means it is going to be more adjustable than a traditional hybrid holster.
The RapidTuck™ has adjustable ride height and 30 degrees of forward and reverse cant. The adjustable ride height features three adjustment levels allowing you to position your holster wherever works best for you.
The ComfortTuck™ is molded with a 10 degree cant, also known as the FBI cant. Since this holster is typically worn in the 3 to 5 o’clock position this cant is ideal for carrying and creates an easier draw.
Since each of our holsters are custom made for your gun model your gun will fit snugly inside the holster and say secure all day through the help of passive retention. Even if you decided to run a marathon while carrying your gun would stay in your holster, though we don’t suggest it.
Clips
Both of these holsters come standard with our 1.5 inch Rock Solid Spring Steel Clip.
We chose these clips because they have a slimmer profile over standard plastic clips and are tuckable for deep concealment. But there is a difference when it comes to clips on these two holsters.
Traditional hybrid holsters have a wide footprint that requires two clips in order to support the holster and your gun. Since our ComfortTuck™ is a more traditional hybrid holster it uses two of our Spring Steel Clips, one on each side. An additional option you have with the ComfortTuck™ is a choice of our v-clips or j-clips.
Our RapidTuck™ on the other hand only uses one clip. As we mentioned before this holster is a blend of a traditional hybrid holster and a full Kydex holster like our LightTuck™. Because of that, it has a smaller footprint that only requires one clip. With the RapidTuck™ you have the option between two different clip sizes, 1.5 inches and 1.75 inches, to fit over both standard and wider belts.
Other Features
There are a few other notable features we wanted to mention about the RapidTuck™ and ComfortTuck™ to help you decide what holster is best for you. Both of these holsters are available in black or tan leather and a variety of Kydex color options. Since each of our holsters are custom made for you and your gun these two holsters are available with optic cut-outs and in a right hand or left hand orientation.
One unique feature available with our ComfortTuck™ is the option for a combat cut. When you are drawing your holster you don’t want anything getting in your way as you draw to ensure a smooth unholstering. The combat cut removes the leather behind the grip of your gun for a smoother draw.
